As a licensed massage therapist in Anchorage, Alaska, I provide comfortable massage therapy geared toward stress relief, while incorporating methods such as Swedish massage and pressure point therapies to relieve muscle pain, headaches, and chronic tension.
My clients enjoy a heated, padded table in a large, comfortable room. I incorporate warm steam pads and aromatherapy during my sessions if requested. I work well with all ages, and have clients ranging from nine years old to seventy.
My massage focuses on relieving pain, and also on alleviating the tension and stress which we all experience in our hectic lives and which is cumulative in our muscles. Muscle pain can be caused by tension and stress, or over used and injured muscles can be aggravated by tension in our daily lives.
Are you tired of ending each day with increasing tension in your upper shoulders and neck area? Do you have headaches that occur more and more frequently? Does your low back and hip pain seem to dominate most of your day and night? Stress is cumulative in the body, if it is not released, it builds. Your body will strive to make you aware of your stress, either on a conscious or subconscious level. You can attempt to ignore it, but eventually your body will bring it to your attention, either through mental issues (example: anxiety, depression), or through physical discomfort (example: headaches, hip/low back pain). Massage is absolutely one of the best ways to relieve stress, and it does not require visits to the doctor, or medication. My clients that receive regular massage sessions report greatly diminished headaches or other body aches, better sleep, much improved coping skills in their daily lives.
The best results occur when both muscle tightness and inner tension are addressed during each massage session. Often in present day massage, the focus is on relieving muscle pain, and deep relaxation is secondary. For many clients, the relaxation is the most needed benefit of the massage. Massage can provide a much needed mini-vacation, and will greatly improve the client's sense of well being and ability to cope with the stresses of their lives.
Massage is a very useful approach to help control headaches. Headache pain is often caused and increased by muscle tension in the neck and shoulders, and chronic sufferers are often amazed at the results achieved by regular massage sessions.
Low back pain is another discomfort experienced by many people, sometimes on a daily basis. This pain can come from regular daily activities, sports, or sitting at a desk all day. Regular massage can be of great benefit in relieving the muscle tension associated with the low back and hip area, allowing more flexible movement and relieving pain. Since the source of many instances of low back pain can be the glute muscles, and the glutes can be unexpectedly painful when massaged, feedback from the client is very important and I encourage my clients to let me know if they are feeling uncomfortable at any time. Massage does not have to hurt to be effective, if one technique is causing discomfort, then another can be used to achieve the desired results.
